"Delightful
Details"
on Display at the
Visitor Center

Not everything in the McFaddin-Ward
House is large. In a proper household, attention to detail was as
important as grand-scale architecture. Like all conscientious
matrons, Ida McFaddin and her daughter, Mamie McFaddin Ward,
insisted on perfection, making sure that everything in their home
was “just so.”
The wondrous, small objects on display
at the McFaddin-Ward House display case would have fulfilled such a
requirement. Some of the household items are on public display for
the first time. Free to look upon. 1906 Calder Avenue at Third
Street, Beaumont. Until Christmas.
The photo is
of an Unger Brothers’ Art Nouveau sterling silver thimble case and
accompanying stainless steel thimbles are on display at the visitor
center until late November. Photographer Michelle
Cate.
