Just adjacent to the dining room, the long hallway or vestibule in the butler’s pantry is lined with cabinets for porcelain and glass storage. In 1912, the McFaddins had this space connected to the breakfast room for easier access to the east side of the house. Other equipment that would be used by John Golden, the McFaddins’ butler in the 1920s, included a large sink that was connected to a cistern at the back of the house, and a plate warmer.
Hall China
Company Potted with extremely thick walls and made to withstand constant handling, these two pieces, a storage container and a pitcher, were made by the Hall China Company from East Liverpool, Ohio, specifically for Westinghouse Electric Company refrigerators.
Plate Warmer This piece of equipment would have warmed plates before they were placed in the dining room to serve to guests.
