McFaddin-Ward House

All tours begin at the McFaddin-Ward House Visitor Center at the corner of Calder Avenue and Third Street (see map below). Tours are given by trained docents.

Tours start at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and are limited to eight or fewer guests.Plan to arrive 10 minutes before tour time. No tours will be started after 3:00 p.m.

Allow ninety minutes. A ten-minute video precedes the tour. Guests are invited to stroll the gardens after the docent-led tour inside the house has ended.

Tour Reservations are strongly recommended and may be made by calling our visitor center at 409-832-2134. Our hours of operation for making reservations are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please contact the visitor center for reservations, to avoid disappointment.

The museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays.

Please Note: The Carriage House is open on weekends only, Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. The Carriage House is a self-guided tour. Last tour admitted thirty minutes before closing.

Please Note: The Third Floor is newly opened and can be toured Tuesday through Saturday on a regular tour of the house.

Only the first floor of the McFaddin-Ward House is accessible to the physically challenged, with upper floors accessible only via stairs. There is a half-block walk from the visitor center to the house and then six steps to reach the first floor. People not able to walk the distance or climb the stairs or reach the upper floors may stay at the visitor center or remain on the house porch while the rest of their group tours the house. Please call in advance to discuss your needs and how we can accommodate you.

Fees
· Guided Tour of the McFaddin-Ward House: $3.00 per person.
· Group Tours of the McFaddin-Ward House: $2.00 per person, paid in one transaction. Reservations for group tours are required.
· There is no discounts on the entrance fees.
· No charge on Sundays because only the first floor of the house is open for tours.

Policies

· Children must be 8 years or older to tour the house. Children of any age may visit the carriage house on the weekends.

· No spiked shoes may be worn inside the house. We recommend low, broad-heeled shoes for comfort.

· Bags, purses, cameras, cell phones may not be taken into the house. Self-lock lockers are at the Visitor Center.

· Guests to the house may take photographs outside the house for personal use only. No professional photography is permitted and no photos may be taken inside the house.
